Ideas for Schools

Getting your school involved in Turn on the Tap means two things:

1) Educating your pupils about one of the world's most important human rights issues - access to water
2) Giving them the chance to do something about it - raising funds to help children in Africa get hold of clean water

Below are just a few ways that your class, club, or school year can get involved...

  • Mufti Day - why not make Turn on the Tap the focus of your next Mufti Day? It's a great cause to focus the attention of your schoolchildren on and, what's more, a mere 4 pupils each giving £1 could mean a child in Africa gets hold of clean drinking water. Why not make World Water Day (22nd March) your water-themed Mufti Day?

  • Message on a Bottle - we’ll send you some sticky labels that can be put on empty water bottles and filled with cash to help provide cleaner water for a child in a developing country. Perhaps children in your school could take one home and invite family and friends to get involved in fi lling them with life-saving coins and notes? Click here to order.

  • Walk for Water -we have declared 23-24 June ‘Walk for Water Weekend ’ with groups up and down the country going on a walk for water in their locality. Why not organise a walk around the school grounds on the Friday or Monday and, through ‘pay to enter’, you can help us raise lots of essential funds – and have a great time too!

  • Water Lessons - we have some great FREE primary school lesson plans and secondary school lesson plans, perfect as part of PSHE, Citizenship or Geography lessons!
