Do Your Own Thing

Want to be part of Turn on the Tap but not sure how? The good news is...you can do pretty much whatever you want to do!

By using Virgin Money Giving to raise funds for Turn on the Tap, it will be easy for you and save us money!

So if you share our passion for water, why not get started now? You can donate your Birthday, take part in a marathon, or run with one of the other ideas below...

Spend A Penny
Turn your toilet or bathroom into a fundraising zone for a month! Put your Turn on the Tap Water Filter Collector or Water Bottle Collector on top of your toilet and encourage people to ‘spend a penny – or more!’ every time they use the toilet by adding small change from their pocket. At the end of the month, ask everyone to bring in their change to your church or school and see how much you have raised to Turn on the Tap.

Bottle It Up
If you and your family drink bottled water, resolve to use tap water for a month and put aside the money your family would have spent on mineral water or water bottles for TOTT. You could use an empty water bottle and fill it with the money you save.

Race for Water
Ask your family, friends and neighbours to sponsor you – either 50p, £1 or more – as you run water races, have loads of fun and get very wet!

For Race One you will need:
One plastic cup per team, one plastic spoon per team, one bucket of water and two or more groups of friends.  To play:  Place the plastic cup at the finish line. Each person fills their spoon with water in the bucket and puts it in the cup. The first team to fill the cup wins.

For Race Two you will need:  Plastic cup per team, large bucket of water, sponge, two or more groups of friends.  To play:  You need a plastic cup and sponge for each team, and a bucket full of water. The second person in the line on the team, places the empty cup on their head. The first person runs back and forth from the bucket to the cup, squeezing the water out of the sponge into the cup. When the cup is full the second person empties it onto the first person’s head (yaaay!). Then you repeat the process with the second and third and so on, until the whole line has done it. The first line that finishes, wins.

Swim for Life
Ask your family, friends and neighbours to sponsor you - either 50p, £1 or more - per width or length of your local swimming pool as you see how many times you and your friends can swim up and down for Turn on the Tap. Or you could approach your local swimming club and see if they would run a special TOTT gala. Please note: This event is designed for strong swimmers and must be properly supervised.
